Thank you LCC!

I was enlisted to help create a GREEN WEEK workshop at London College of Communication last week which was rather super! There were all sorts of activities and walls on the go! A huge thank you to all the contributors who helped. To name just a few…Garudio Studiage for the amazing Lucky Skip! Skip Sisters for the super recycled bead workshop , Maria from Plastic Seconds incredible recycled plastic jewellery workshop, Veja’s sustainability wall and to all the students and staff who were so open and brilliant to work with!

So many new flavours of life here in Tokyo!

The ticket vending machine Ramen restaurants are amazing. You choose and pay for your ramen at the vending machine then pass your ticket to the chef!

or I just went to a restaurant where you choose your ingredients from a fridge then pass them to the chef -nice

and of course the plastic food just gets better and is actually really helpful as all menus are in japanese! luckily i’ve been taken to lots of restaurants by japanese friends who can order for me

Yumi ordered us Fish testicles which is salty and creamy!!?

Everything is packaged into tiny gifts: bananas, corn on the cobs, snacks…so everything becomes like a tiny ceremony.

My new Japanese saying is “hi”  it means “sure” in Japanese and you shrug your shoulders as you say it.

I’m very lucky  to be being sent off to Tokyo to shoot some super walls for my upcoming book! all very exciting! I’ve never been and have no idea what to expect, the tube map looks like a knot of worms! Looking so forward to seeing all my new Japanese friends! (images below courtesy of hello sandwich)

The night time Guerrilla knitting install took place last night! Linnea Apleqvist, Linda Berlin, Ben Everett, Tomo Kojo-Robertson and I came armed with yarn and have woven and wrapped No-One Store! The window is up! and looks fab!

We’ve wrapped shelves, rails and more inside -so come see! There is some great new products: Lina Meier’s Alphabet Keys Rings,Xmas cards by Present and Correct and Jewellery by Zena and Me, Alice of Hackney, Tache hankies by Ruth Bartlett…  -the perfect stocking fillers!

This week we’ve been weaving! Linnea Apleqvist, super set designer and our weaving team have been guerilla knitting at NO-ONE Store in preparation for the launch of Supermarket Sarah for Jaguar Shoes Collective’s XMAS LAUNCH EVENT NEXT FRIDAY! It will be on 11/11/11! We’ve got some super new designer pieces, perfect xmas gifts all ready to go for the launch night which will be sponsored by the yummy and stylish Campari! Your cocktail shopping night awaits!

Mill co and Monotype have got together to create a super Typographic exhibition at their amazing exhibition space on Vyner street. I was very pleased do be invited to do a wall there too and have put together a display including work by the super Swedish product designer Lina Meier. I love these new typographic leather key rings! and also a brilliant print by the artist and Comedian Miriam Elia! My ‘ode to Typography’!

The exhibition is on till 24th Nov so do pop in!

Super star Gabby Young who created  a wall for Supermarket Sarah and played at my Selfridges launch is headlining at KOKO October 13th! She’s amazing! Get your tickets quick.
